Watching You, Watching Me  (2025)

Photo Collage

13x19

This artwork embodies defiance—an unapologetic challenge, demanding to know: What are you looking at? With an intense, confrontational gaze, it refuses to be silenced or diminished. Layered with purple flowers, the image holds a stark duality: a symbol of innocence tainted by the experience of my first relationship with a man who objectified and groomed me under the guise of love. The flowers, once pure, now carry the weight of betrayal—representing not only the innocence stolen from me but also the lingering resentment toward those who chose to shield him rather than protect me.

This photograph is not a plea—it is a reckoning. It forces acknowledgment, demanding that he and those who enabled him face the consequences of their silence. His actions left scars not only on me but on other women and even his own family. The tension between the delicate flowers and my unyielding expression serves as a visual contradiction: a reminder of what was taken and the strength that emerged in its place. I look at him with nothing but disgust—a gaze that reclaims my power and dismantles the narrative he tried to impose on me.

Through this work, I refuse to be reduced to a victim. Instead, I stand as a force of accountability, challenging viewers to recognize the long-term effects of sexualization, the complicity of those who look away, and the responsibility of facing the truth.
